Petra, a top and unique cellar between sky and sea

There is the flavor of the sea in wines of Petra, the architecturally impressive winery of Terra Moretti Group in Suvereto, Val di Cornia, Livorno, 158 km from Florence. The cellar, designed by the Swiss architect Mario Botta, is considered the first among the seven wonders in Italy.

The building looks like an Andean Cathedral, with the long flight of steps set in a round and oblique altar. But, to remain closer, here in the heart of Maremma, you can really find the Greek and Etruscan memories. The wines, obtained by a so called “fall vinification” from vines as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese and Syrah, witness the soil richness in minerals, such as iron.
