In February in Florence, Tuscany, there have been the most important wine events, 3 famous wine fairs:

  • Buy wine
  • Chianti Lovers
  • Chianti Collection

The first event on February 13, is called “Buy Wine” where the first vintage of Chianti 2015, Chianti Classico 2015 and chianti Riserve 2013 and 2014 is presented to the wide international audience; this wine event is more a business to business meeting, to facilitate the meeting between the Chianti and Chianti Classico wine producers and importers and distributors mainly from Usa, Canada and UK.

The “Buy Wine” held in the old sixteenth-century fortress of Florence is in its sixth year and it is enjoying a considerable international success.

Most of the wineries are small and medium-sized companies that produce very high quality tuscan wine such as the famous Super Tuscan wine, Chianti Reserve, but also the basic Chianti the most consumed daily wine, while the other two wines require special occasion and dishes.

This fair is very important for the Tuscan producers who wish to expand their target market and for all those people working in the world of italian wine.

On February 14, the Valentine’s day, all the Chianti lovers have gathered at the former tobacco factory, built in 1940 in Florence for the preview of Chianti, vintage 2015 and Chianti Reserve 2013.

A large audience of sommeliers, journalists, wine professionals, met more than hundred chianti wine producers and tasted their excellent wines.

The 2015 vintage of Chianti wine seems a good year, mostly balanced, reflecting the characteristics of the Chianti DOCG .

All of Chianti areas were present: the Chianti Colli Fiorentini, Chianti colli Senesi, Chianti Rufina, Chianti colline of Pisa, Chianti colline of Arezzo;

The event is held every year since 2010 and is always a big success.

The Chianti Classico Collection event which is held every year at the Leopolda Station, a former train station, is increasingly popular, wine experts and non-experts, journalists flock to the Leopolda for two days : on February 16 and 17 .

The Chianti Classico, one of the most famous Italian wines, was born in Tuscany 300 years ago and this year It celebrates also its anniversary.

The figures are staggering: 165 wine producers with 587 different wines labels for tasting, there will be in total about 7,000 bottles of Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva Chianti and large selection to open.

The black rooster, symbol of Chianti Classico, has a positive trend since 2009, which is higher than any other Italian DOCG, Tuscany is by no means the most important wine region of Italy.

Also, the popularity of Chianti Classico in the world is growing.

The Consortium of Chianti classico wine, was founded 92 years ago and it was the first consortium of winemaker born in Italy to protect and develop the image of Chianti Classico.

Nowadays counts 580 wine producers.
